On Friday August 12, we had our first community experience, we rode The Rapid. The Rapid is easy, convenient, cheap, reliable, safe, clean, relaxing and fun. Our class never knew that so many people used the bus every day to get where they need to go.
It was really interesting for us to compare how we get around and how the people of Grand Rapids get around. A lot of us may have jobs in the Grand Rapids area when we graduate from Hudsonville so The Rapid would be something we could use.
The Rapid is $1.50 for a two way ride. The Rapid is cool because on the buses there are two ways to get off. Just because you can't drive doesn't mean you can't go anywhere. The Rapid is a way for people with disabilities to get transportation around town.

Hello MERIT Students!
We hope that you are having a great summer and are staying busy. Mrs. Cunningham has been enjoying every second with little Luci. She has also enjoyed the summer in Holland and at her family cottage. Mrs. Maly broke her foot so she spent most of her summer in a boot! Parker and Archer are doing great!
We are getting very excited for a new school year and to see so many familiar faces and some new faces too!
There are several things that you will need to bring the first day of school in order to be prepared. Here is a list to take with you as you go "back to school shopping":
If you are wanting to help supply our classroom for the school year, we could always use...
If you will be taking medication during the school day you must fill out forms in the main office BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Hager Park Field Trip
Adapted PE is always filled with many fantastic field trips. Last Friday September 16 was our first field trip. We headed over to Hager Park to enjoy the beautiful fall day. Students had a blast and enjoyed getting out of school for the last class period of the day. What a great start to the weekend!

One Week Down...
It is hard to believe that a whole week of school has already come and gone. The Eagle MERIT Program is off to a great start. Our first week was not only filled with the start of new classes and getting used to a new schedule, it was also filled with team building activities and continuing to develop and establish strong friendships within our program. It is great to be back! We are going to have a great year!
Students participating in the game Two Truths and a Lie. This a great way to get to know each other better and to get the school year off to a great start.

Fredrick Meijer Garden
April 29, 2011
The Adapted PE class took a trip to the Fredrick Meijer Garden's at the very end of April. This was a great way to get out of the classroom and celebrate the beginning for Spring! We not only saw the butterflies, but walked around the grounds of the Gardens! A big thanks to Mrs. Bocks for all the field trips she plans for or class!

Boys and Girls Club of Holland
February 25, 2011 everyone was more then ready for something fun in the middle of the dreary winter days. The Hudsonville High School Special Education program as well as other Special Educations programs in the area all gathered together for food and fellowship at the Boys and Girls Club of Holland. This was a great way for everyone to spend time together with friends from around the area.
Everyone had such a fantastic time!
